Flowing Springs: Our Children from Snowy River

Our spring break excursion to Flowing Springs (10 minutes North of Payson, Arizona) resulted in what the kids might call “The Children From Snowy River”. As any mom would, I instructed them all to bring a second pair of shoes and change of clothes ‘just in case’ someone ended up in the water. What began with rock skipping and crawdad hunting resulted in water fights and wading down the river!

Once we got to the end of the river the kids experienced the cold sensation caused by hiking in soaked clothes into a stiff breeze. Those who heeded Mommy’s instructions were comfy. Those who weren’t prepared thought they were going to die from hypo-thermia. It was really only about 60 degrees—enough to cause a slight chill 🙂 But the fun they had while in the river made it all worth it! And my job was to document the whole experience for posterity and to provide picture proof for my kids that we went on fun family outings during their youth. They always seem to forget. And this trip was FREE (except for the cost of gas and dinner at Subway)!
